We live in a material world. Each day millions of tons of used material and products are disposed of in refuse lots around the globe. Whether these products serve users’ needs sufficiently, or perhaps even elegantly, is the concern of design. So long as we humans continue to require material things to improve our lives it is imperative that the items we use be conceived, designed, and produced in as holistic a manner as possible. Only by considering the impact of our actions on all of humankind, especially in the process of design, can we hope to pass on this planet, the 3rd stone from the sun, to future generations in much the same manner as we inherited it from our forebears.

3rd Stone Design is a product design, strategy and development company. Our process integrates user needs, environmental constraints, technological capabilities, and economic realities to create convincing solutions to difficult problems. Our work is varied, spanning from consumer products aimed at mass markets to medical devices intended for use in developing country applications. Our aim is united by a genuine intent to use the power of technology to improve human’s lives everywhere and to do so with as few harmful externalities a possible.

New projects currently under development or consideration by 3rd Stone Design include medical device applications, consumer products with ecological emphasis, and alternative energy products that intend to change the ways in which energy is generated and consumed.
